things are happening

Starting tomorrow, I have a roommate.

A young fellow from the UK who will be working with a government ministry.

I told him he can stay short term, and he thinks about a month. Funny enough, that's almost exactly the same amount of money as a plane ticket to Morocco. Score!

So, things are happening.

Today I tried to go to my first French class, and despite my serious meltdown because the driver made me so late, it was fine. I just took an evaluation for my level and found the instructors to be very friendly. I'll start on Monday.

The training I'm supposed to be involved with all next week may be canceled because the trainers' luggage was lost. Of course I have a million details to coordinate either way. Because things are not easy here. They lost the training materials, so if they come, I have to get them all printed out. Which means the security supervisor has to meet me at the office on Sunday, along with the office manager and the engineer who runs the generator. We don't have power on the weekends, so of course we have to do all these things specially. Printing and copying a few hundred pages could easily become a whole day endeavor and might still never actually happen. And, I have to work all day Saturday, and prepare a huge presentation to a Supreme Court Justice before Monday. Me? Fucked? Yeah. Especially since the bar across the the street blares music until WAY too late and there's a bird who likes to greet the dawn RIGHT outside my window.

I'm tired. Grumpy. And obviously whiny. But, despite my fatigue after only a week and a half back on the job, it is always FAR better for me to be busy than not.
